Building Safer, More Inclusive Communities Through Storytelling

Understanding the Need

A long-standing nonprofit that supports neighbourhood-level volunteers received grant funding to lead an anti-racism project in collaboration with three BIPOC-led partner organizations. The goal was to create space for dialogue learning and inclusion across community spaces.

The organization had strong partners and a clear purpose, but limited internal resources to communicate the story of the work.

The Heart of the Work

This project was rooted in community. Each partner brought something different—arts-based workshops, Treaty 6 education, and inclusion sessions led by Muslim women—offering participants different ways to engage in meaningful conversations about racism and belonging.

More than just a series of events, this was about building relationships, honouring lived experience, and helping communities imagine what anti-racism could look like at the neighbourhood level.

Our Approach

Quip Creative provided communications support to document the project and engage a broader audience. For each event, we created social media content to promote and recap the programming, ensuring the community stayed informed and connected.

We attended each event type to document the experience and interview key members to capture the atmosphere, stories and reflections that made this work so powerful.

To tie it all together, we produced a video that wove together the voices of community members, facilitators and partner organizations. The result was a clear, compelling summary of the project’s impact that the organization could use for future engagement, accountability and funding opportunities.
