Advancing Equity Through Clear Communication

Understanding the Need

A national nonprofit supporting dance presenters across Canada had secured funding to launch an equity initiative. They needed communications support to work alongside and equity advisor to help shape the message, amplify the work and ensure the project could live on beyond the funding period.

The Heart of the Work

Conversations around equity can be difficult and uncomfortable to engage in. However, the organization wanted to empower its members to engage in these conversations in a meaningful way during the funding period and beyond. They needed tools and resources that they can use moving forward to continue the work.

Our Approach

Quip Creative helped define the project’s identity. We started out by giving the project a name that can be referenced and remembered. Then we collaborated with the equity advisor to refine and clarify the messaging delivered through presentation slides and a member workbook. We facilitated live workshops, conducted in-person interviews and produced a video series interviewing key members around the pillars of the project. Finally, we developed a project webpage that housed all the resources, video interview series, workbook and tools members can use to continue engaging in equity conversations and actions.
